Citizens of Planet Earth
The planet and ecosphere we live in is fragile and precious. We all know this. We all have differing opinions on just how fragile our ecosystem is. One thing is certain -- everybody would benefit from having more information to better understand issues that affect the environment. Listed below are some resources that may help you to get closer to this goal.
At a recent meeting (October 26, 2004) James E. Hansen, the Director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies began his opening speech with:
"I have been told by a high government official that I should not talk about "dangerous anthropogenic interference" with climate, because we do not know how much humans are changing the Earth's climate or how much change is "dangerous". Actually, we know quite a lot."
We think it is dangerous not to talk about global climate change.
It is important that you read what he had to say. Located at the bottom of Dangerous Anthropogenic Interference are two links. One of them is for the transcript of his speech and the other is for the slides shown during the presentation. It is worth your time to take a serious look at the issues.
