News Flash.. Commission on Civil Rights reports on President Bush

a surprisingly unabashed view by a government agency

The US Commission on Civil Rights recently issued a report on the Bush Administration's record on civil rights. We think you will be interested to hear what a government agency has to say about a sitting president. Read about it in:

News Flash.. Terry McAuliffe sends fleet of buses to swing states

Rallying the troops

After hearing what Bush had to say at the RNC (actually, reading straight from the teleprompters would be more accurate), we decided to gather our Kerry supporters to spend some quality time with our good neighbors in some of the nearby swing states.

We assembled a fleet of buses, each one to a different town in the swing states.

We will not disclose which towns we visited (we have to keep the Republicans guessing). Well, we will disclose one location - Scranton, PA.

It turns out that George Bush also decided to visit Scranton on the same day and had hurridly left early that morning. When we spoke to a number of citizens we learned that quite a few of the town's people were turned away and were apparently displeased. Interestingly enough, just 9 or 10 hours earlier, John Kerry remarked to an audience of 18,000 at Springfield, Ohio that "Really Not Compassionate" seems to be a better label for the RNC than the Republican National Committee/Convention. George, we didn't think you would want to go through such great lengths to prove us right.

We spent the whole day with the good folks at Scranton and had a wonderful time talking, listening and exchanging views. The spin masters can talk all they want. But the voters we met with were overwhelmingly receptive and delighted to give us their undivided attention. We went there to work, but were greeted with generous hospitality (and even some New York style knishes).

After a long day, we returned home tired but energized.

News Flash.. Anti Bush/RNC Protests in Central Park

One Picture Sums It All Up

image of a protester's message

The anti-Bush & RNC rally on Sunday, August 29th offered insight into many problems that people are having with the Bush Administration. This picture makes it clear that that it is not only the man, but the misguided policies that is the real problem.

The salt in the wound is that the Republicans are carrying on as if there is no problem in the economy or elsewhere (except the fear of terrorism).

Fortune Favors The Dedicated and Patient

It pays to be in the right place at the right time.
It has been an exciting week and it was great to be a part of the whole experience. What a way to cap it off! This morning, KJ, Marjorie, and I managed to fight the urge to roll over and go back to sleep. Despite partying into the wee hours to celebrate our next president's acceptance speech (which, by the way, was a homerun- over the Monster seats, outta the paahhk and onto the Mass Pike), we threw ourselves together at 7 am and headed over to Langone Park in the North End of Boston. Traffic and road closures prevented us from getting to the rally on time and we were not allowed into the park. As we stood on the street, disappointed at not catching a last glimpse of our heros, a sudden chant of Ker-ry! Ker-ry! rose from the lingering crowd. Around the corner came the bus carrying Teresa, John and John waving and throwing kisses to the crowd. I just hoisted my camera and started clicking away, praying to get any picture at all with the bus in motion.
