Science Policy.. 20 Questions (and 19.5 Answers)
Decide which one knows what he's talking about
Kerry and Bush recently responded to a formal request from Science Magazine
(which is published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science) to state
in their own words, their views and opinions addressing twenty specific topics in science.
Both candidates present how they personally see and understand the issues (well actually,
one of the candidates chose not to answer one of the questions, ergo "19.5 Answers").
We think you'll quickly conclude that one of the candidates is actually expressing own his thoughts
on the rationale, issues, and implications; while the other is just merely reading
a speech prepared by someone else and couldn't hold an extemporaneous discussion
about what he's just said.

Is Bush answering the question asked?
Kerry and Bush also responded to a similar questionaire from Nature Magazine.
15 questions were asked. One of them is very interesting. We've included a screen shot below.
Bush's response to question number 2
Look at the question and the last sentence of the answer given by Mr. Bush.
Ignore, for the moment, his plattitudes. Does Mr. Bush actually realize
that the "bias" referred to
in the question relates to policy issues
and not political parties (Republican vs. Democrat)? Our interpretation is
that he doesn't even get the question; or if he does, he is certainly trying to skirt the issues.
Do you agree?
